And it matches his shoes and trousers. I was lucky enough to grab a few shots of Drew in this ensemble a few weeks ago outside the studio on the corner of 15th and 7th. As models go, he really has some slick moves he can put on for the camera.

Candy at the Cigar Store

I had an hour of free time recently while down in Ybor City and Candy was in town modeling for some friends of mine. I joined in on the shoot while I had the chance and set up this one shot with a speedlight I had with me. The two shots below were simply done with available light because I was being lazy and knew I could get away with it.

Shake & Bake With Candy

Shake & Bake is a classic technique that can yield some fun results. It is accomplished by allowing the subject to be illuminated by a constant light source, usually incandescent, using a slow shutter speed to allow the light to build up and to allow some slight motion of the subject and/or camera to create a bit of soft blur, and popping the subject with a low-power flash burst to freeze the eyes and other facial features. The result is unique a soft-sharp look.

Scouting Locations and Shooting

Took the opportunity during a get-together last week to see how a particular location that I’ve been looking at would work for shooting. Having a couple of models who brought a snake with them made it even more interesting. I like snakes but I have to say after several experiences putting them in front of the camera they are highly uncooperative and do not take direction well.
